Meanwhile I am guessing this is a pod riding a feather duster on my glass? !

Not sure but it looks like a nassarius snail to me. Does it bury itself in the sand and pop out when you feed?
Possibly, I didn't notice it but I will keep an eye next time. Do they breed in captivity like the trochus?
I placed 5 of each six months ago and I have dozens trochus now then these guys started to show up all over. I will take better pictures tomorrow though.

Just looked with a flash light and found few here is better pictures

Haven't had much luck with them breeding. They arent algae eaters though. They eat leftover food and are good sand stirers.

I was wondering how common is it for them to breed, I do add phyto to the tank every day not sure if that even related but if I have to guess I probably saw at least 50 or little more.

I've never known a Nass to breed in our tanks, is why I'm a little perplexed.
Ok hold on, I decided to feed the tank to see if they would come out and they did. Taking pictures and will post them right now.

I see you answered that already... Sorry, I'm on the phone. I'll go back up and read what you said.

They are all over the sand now, as I said about 50 that I can see. hopefully these pictures are clear enough to identify them if not let me know and I can take more pictures. by the way these guys are really small, you can see them compared to the sand grains which is the Caribsea special grade reef
