My coral dealer gave me some snails today. Put them in the reefless tank upon verification. The pattern resembles sundials but definitely not. They went straight for the glass and aren’t interested in sand. Can’t upright themselves it seems.

Attached pics of a few of them.

I initially thought nerite because of the shape of the shell but the pattern doesn’t seem to match. Zebra turbo does look close. But if they do get that big.... ;Nailbiting

Zebra turbos are collected in Asia I believe so I went with that. If they are, yes they get big. Nerite I think are collected in the Caribbean but don't quote me.

Hey I am working my way to Snail from Sponge... I was just confirming.... " That Was A Snail "... I think I nailed It... ;)
I’m sure there’s a nudibranch out there that’ll keep you in check as a sponge ;)

My coral guy doesn’t even know what they are. He’s a young guy in his 20’s but he’s a pro at IDing everything from the sea. Family business kind of a thing. Even he isn’t sure. I appreciate the help Dennis. You and your wife are pros at this game.

It's a nerite - there are many different patterns and colorations out there. They are found in pretty much all coastal areas. Yours appears to be a Caribbean nerite of some sort. A quick google search of Caribbean nerite snail should come up with similar snails.

The shell opening is a dead giveaway that it is a type of nerite snail. Here is a photo of the underside of Nerita polita (Hawaii) from Keoki for example.

No worries man, either way it's a good snail. We don't get everything right but I enjoy trying to help when I can brother. My wife is much better at the hitchiker snail stuff, I should stick to corals:p

Also, the behavior of going straight up the glass - and possibly even outside the water - right after being added is classic Nerite behavior. This is due to the fact they are often from the intertidal zone. Some species constantly come out of the water and others will stop after a while. This might also sound weird, but nerites tend to have a specific look to their face...

If you're ever hungry, boil them and pick them with toothpicks.
