Purchased a maxima clam from my local fish store. It’s in a qt and has been doing good for about a week and now isn’t extending. When I picked it up I found this snail in the clam. Can someone if please? Haven’t found anything else yet but it isn’t extending at the moment as kind of closed up.
Thanks
Jon

It’s under a Kessil A80 Blue. This is a pic of what it looked like yesterday

I put phytoplankton in yesterday, tested alkalinity today and dosed it and it’s at 8.5ppm now. Still haven’t tested calcium yet.

That tissue is very retracted and a bad sign. You stated all is good.
Assure you have met the following as something besides snail could have changed

Temp no higher than 80
CA no higher than 440
Alk no higher than 9
Salinity no higher than 1.025
Moderate water flow
Good lighting
Phosphate < .04
Nitrate < .04
Ammonia no higher than < .03

That 2nd picture doesn’t look terrible to me. Maybe that snail was a big issue. I dunno, I don’t know if I’d QT a clam. They need established environments. But I don’t QT anything so I guess that doesn’t make a difference. I hope it works out. Just try to keep it stable.

Jblaine that clam is unfortunately a goner. Look for a white band of new shell growth when you purchase next time. It is a sign the clam is healthy. Also a Kessel 80 is not enough light for a clam IMO. I’m sorry this is happening and I am keeping my fingers crossed for your clam And hope I’m wrong.

What was is at prior to dosing?

And I don't know that type of snail but my memory vaguely tells me it's predatory. Would love for someone to ID it.

Just tested with Hanna checkers
Cal 449ppm
Alk 8.5 dkh
Salinity 1.024
Phosphate 0
Nitrate .02
1 small powerhead and hang on filter.

Alk was at 8 dkh before dosing. I have a feeling I found that snail to late. It did leave a good size hole where I found it. I didn’t see any signs of it and have been checking the clam every day but this was the first time I saw anything.

Yeah, that's a big snail to be INSIDE your clam. Pretty sure that's the problem.

Yup, that's a gonner. I'd call your LFS and let them know they sold you a clam with a predatory snail inside and hopefully they will give you credit. I'm sure that was spendy.
