Snail or whelk id

Got a few of these with a clean up crew order. Look like a whelk type of sort to me. Are these reef safe. I observe them for awhile n they didn't look like they were hunting other snails. Fairly small about size of a nassarius snail.

I think for whelk ID you need to see the bottom of the shell, where the siphon is coming out.

I got the 100% exact same ones, they eat other snails, and breed like crazy. Get them out as soon as you can. They are never in the sand, always on the rock or glass.

Thanks for the info! I never did end up adding them into the tank. Was worried they would hunt other snails.

They’re welks. Look at the trunk. That tattooed pattern is typical welk. They’ll hunt snails that fall off the wall or can’t turn themselves over
