After once having to go fallow for 76 days, I am super paranoid now about introducing ich again. I want to get a Mexican turbo snail later today, largely to help control my green hair algae. I would really like to be able to put it in the main tank right away to start munching algae, but I'm nervous about ich.

My question: if I decide to QT the new snail, do you think I would be able to put one of my rocks with the GHA on it into the QT tank for the snail to munch on? And when that's clean, switch it out for another? Or would this still present the risk of introducing ich back into the main tank (if the ich somehow attached onto the rock from the snail?).

Hope that made sense. [emoji23]

I think so.
Don't risk it, that would defeat the purpose of QT. Find another way to feed the turbo in QT
Correct me if Im wrong, but it would only be bad the other way around.

The dt n rock are clean, the snails are suspect and will be held fallow in the qt.

A side note, as its a bunch of work, grab some more snails. (small ones ;))

Thank you @Mike N and @saltyfilmfolks for the input!

Ok so to make sure I understand... yes the DT and the rock is clean and definitely ich free. If I put the new snail(s) in QT and put a rock from the DT in the QT, can I then put the rock BACK in the DT when the GHA has been eaten? And then put a different rock from the DT into the QT? Or is putting the clean rock into the QT automatically contaminating it?

Kind of confusing but I recently gave up coffee and can't think of a better way to explain this right now [emoji23]

Not exactly, the rock needs to stay in the qt with the inverts for the full fallow period.
Putting it back in the DT would negate the QT period.

So no.

But you could keep adding rock from the Dt TO the QT.

What were you thinking!!:p

I'm drinking Caffeined right now. Maybe that explains why I talk in a pitch only dogs can hear? Lol
