I was wondering what snail stays small for my refugium. It's bare bottom with bio media and chaeto.

Thanks for any info.

Sounds like a good idea in theory and yes I did it in mine when I first stocked. Now mine are removed and I do so every time I find one. Many snails especially nerites and some others don't stay put and will crawl out of the sump or even tank. The real issue is my nerites and some others were leaving the refugium and finding there way into the return pump or the skimmer pump. My stomatella's are breeding like rabbits in my sump so between those and some asterna stars they are maintaining the sump quite well. If they get in a pump they just pass through.

I was looking for something that would keep the hair algae in the refugium under control.
Never had any in my DT, just in the refugium that I set up about 2 weeks ago.

Where did you get the stomatellas from ?

I throw a Mexican Turbo in my fuge for about a week every month just to tidy things up a bit. The snail is really large and easy to spot for when they go back in the display.
