I have a 45 gallon gallon that has been up and running just over 2 years. I usually try to keep between 10-15 snails in the tank. For some reason though, over the last 2 months or so, they have slowly been dying. Every few days another one is dead. This has been causing a phosphate spike, which had led to some green turf algae. Due to the fact there is measurable nitrate (6), and around .08 phosphate, and algae on the surface, I find it hard to believe they are dying from starvation. I keep the tank at about 1300 mag, so its not a high mag issue. Any thoughts on what could be the issue?

Check your nitrates .
Also if no algae present, supplement them with at least nori seaweed.

I feel like I also have trouble long term with snails.
