Hello everybody, I bought 15 snails, but they didn't move in my tank...they kept falling down head down and legs up : upside down hehehe, but they where ok in the shop...what is the reason? my calcium and mag are ok...salinity 1022...thanks

Whats your ALK reading?
What type of Snails?
Whats your Nitrate reading?

i was reading something about how snails are not very hardy and they need a longer acclimation process than other inhabitants, also that they are sensitive to nitrates. i am having a similar problem my snails all died (i think...they are just laying there on the SB havn't moved in days) but my hermit crabs are fine. my nirates are at 5-10 ppm last time i checked yesterday but that could be the problem...

Nitrates at 5-10 won't harm snails. But you must have your ALK and Calcium in check in order for them to use it properly.

i did a 40% WC and want to do another 25% WC. hopefully that will work and i can get more soon, as of right now it is just the two blue leg hermits and a bunch of empty shells and the two snails(dead maybe). when my hermit crab sheds its shell do i need to remove it from the tank
?

i dont have a test kit for cal and alk

Na, you can leave old shells in the tank, no reason to remove them, unless they get unsightly for you.

Cal and ALK work off each other, and the snails and hermits need it for molting and their shells. But yes, most don't know it but its better to drip accimate your snials for a couple hours before introducing them to the tank.

my hermit just molted his shell so that means it should be better after the wc right?

Got ya. Yea, if he molted ok, I'd say you may be in good shape. I'd still test to find out where those levels are though.

No reason to remove the molted skeleon, the CUC will take care of it for you.
You'll have to get a test kit in order to find those numbers.
