My first time diving I was amazed at all the sound. A lot of it was snapping shrimp. I love that noise. I have a 55 gallon (in display) and a 14 gallon nano. I have one snapping shrimp in the nano and am currently trying to evict a mantis shrimp in the 55. If I do get the mantis out can I have more than one snapping shrimp? Would they have to be a mated pair? Does species matter?

If you've kept more than one I'd love to hear about it - species, how many, mated pair (how to determine sex if they have to be a pair)....

Thanks

I have several friends that added another pistol shrimp because they thought theirs died. Every single one have ended up with a freaky little 3some with a goby.

ive got at least 3 snapping shrimps (i call them pistol shrimp) in my 120l reef. all hitchhiked in on rocks and miraculously survived the cycle. they do wake me up at night tho.
