Snorkel and dive salt tank idea

Ok so just an idea nothing has been done. At this point I’m just trying to get a feel for if it would even be worth doing. I don’t live any where near the ocean. I was wondering if people would pay to get into a place where they could snorkel and dive with saltwater fish in places that are no where near the ocean? Of course there would be a ton of things to work out if something like this could even realistically be done. The first thing that comes to mind is the cost to make and maintain that much salt water. My idea is to have something that would be more immersive then just going to an aquarium to look at fish. What are your guys thoughts and ideas? I’m sure there are tons of things that I haven’t thought of or know about. Maybe this is just a dumb idea.

It would be awesome! That being said, the insurance would be a nightmare!

PITA would be all over you.

The filtration and disease prevention system would be unreal.

And you would stress the heck out of the fish.

I think to make it worthwhile to sustain a 30 min dive even, it would have to be something massive. Way beyond even large aquariums you see in Long Beach, San Diego or elsewhere. I dont know how commercially feasible this would be.

There are some aquariums that offer this now. I'd be nervous about doing it through - such a huge risk of contamination.

I would want to captive breed fish. Probably more so then normal if possible and do rescues.

It doesn’t surprise me Disney and other big name parks can do this type of thing. I guess it’s more of a question of financial backing then anything.

Discover cove (sea world) does it in orlando, the Georgia aquarium let's you in the whale shark tank. Its plausible just not cheap to set up or experience.

There’s a guy in Utah that has a lake with a high mineral and salinity. He has successfully acclimated Yellow tangs and Algae to the lake and he charges people to scuba and snorkel in it

I think a huge tunnel of tanks would be more lucrative. You don’t have to depend on people being honest about their swimming ability. People with little kids could go through, heck, people with little kids would probably be going through because of the kids. And you don’t have to worry about people wearing cologne, lotion, soap, etc and contaminating your tanks.

Disney has a "pool" you can swim in at one of their water parks that has fish and sharks and all sorts of fun things to snorkel through.
