I have snott looking stuff hanging off of everything in my tank. It's on the rocks, coral, and even the snails' shells. What is this stuff and how do I get rid of it? I also think my skimmer is not working good enough(I don't like it). Help??????

Sounds like vermetid snails. Otherwise known as snot snails. If that is what they are they can irritate corals but other than that they are not harmful. They tend to grow faster in a high nutrient tank.

If it's white, it's a bacteria. I had this when I got my first tank started and it forms white netting stuff all over things. However, if it's a brownish-yellow color with air bubbles in it then it's likely dinoflagellates. They can be cured with hydrogen peroxide I believe. They are caused by excess silicates in the water. Usually people get an outbreak because they are using tap water in their tanks.

Yeah a picture would be great. When you said snot the first thing I thought was clear looking stringy stuff which could still be several things. It is really hard to properly id without a picture.

Ok. I'm having issues posting photos but, I am 48 hours into a 72 hour blackout and I am h2o2 dosing at 1 ml per 10 gal. a day. So far it looks like everything is clearing up. I did a 15% water change, new filter sock, and scrubbed my skimmer. I'm gonna upgrade my skimmer though to a little larger capacity. Any suggestions? It's a 120gal. with a 40gal. sump.

I'm a huge fan of reef octopus skimmers. Good affordability and build quality. My first real skimmer (read not sea clown) was an octopus bh100f. It was great for the money. I have a coralife super skimmer now but it's a 220 on a 54 gallon tank.
