Just curious, seen a similar coral named something else on here, and wondering if they are the same?

I bought a piece a few years ago but unfortunately lost it during a move/tank crash. Here are some examples though.. anyone have one in their tank they wish to post pictures of?

This is a OLD classic piece that is pretty hard to find! I know of a few people who have them, just got to find the list, haha!

I had one that looked close to this, but I lost mine too. I love the prostratas and would love some frags again.

I have a small frag and it remains looking purleish. Where are you guys keeping yours as far as lighting flow etc?

Definitely a nice looking piece, I've never had one before tho... might have to add it to the long list of stuff to get lol

Here'a few pics of the Fragfarmers Snow cone prostrata.

Is it just me or does this coral look so different in like every picture?

No it's not you................that's why I specified that mine is the Fragfarmer snow cone that Eric C. had years ago. It's a tri color with branches that are Magenta on the ends & the growth tips are blue. The inner body is green/peach.

Ok thanks . That's the same one I have. It does have a more purple color than some of the red/pink ones in previous posts.

Mine is from Frag Farmers as well. Unfortunately, the placement in the tank prevents me from getting a pic that isn't so blue. That pic was with the color temp slider in photoshop at 50000 :squigglemouth:

Swannyson, what can you tell us about lighting/flow recommendations, growth rate, etc? I'm sure my frag would be twice as big if it hadn't almost died during a tank move.

I've found that it likes moderate light with heavy flow. When I put it in high light, the peach color comes out more and in low light, the purple browned out and I lost the peach color entirely. The blue tips were prevelent in all lighting on the new growth. With where it it now, the majority of the piece is magenta, with only a tiny bit of the peach color at the base. Growth rate is typical for a prostrata or millepora... not the slowest grower in the world, but not fast either.

When you take a somewhat common morph and charge $100 a frag you better believe other people with the same morph will pass it along with the same name. IIRC the first ones surfaced about 4-5 years ago and then the trend grew about ~3 years ago with Hugo's strain. IMO its a pink and blue milli...
