I say you are on borrowed time, I sat back and watched my old Snowflake eat my favorite clam right in front of my eyes. It took me 3 weeks to finally catch the eel and I had to completely tear the tank apart to do so. By the time it was all said and done it had eaten at least 10 clams.

Suck, well I've got more invested into the eel, how do I remove a clam safely from LR?

I've had my 28'' snowflake eel in my reef tank for 8 month's now. I have 6 clams. Some large and some small. He has never shown any interest in any of them. The key is to keep them well fed. Mine eats 15 silversides every three days.

I guess it personality driven, just to be safe though I consider it fate and wrapped up my Cro and max from a friends 30th b-day today, I'm sure she'll love it. Lucky her;)

Mine was only about 12" and what it did is just ate the gills out of the clams, he left the rest. I can see where a larger eel wouldn't be able to get it's head into the incurrent siphon and would leave them alone.

To remove the clams just take a sharp knife and cut the threads as far away from the clam as possible, the threads are like our hair and fingernails and the clam won't feel a thing.
