I have a Fantail Filefish and would like to get a snowflake eel. Tank size 80 gallon. Any reason why I cannot do this. In the compatability chart it says filefish and eels don't get along.
Please advise..........

I have mandarin, clowns, royal gramma, damsels, hawkfish all of eatable size and my eel doesn't pay any attention to them. Snowflakes are mostly crustaceans eaters. I never feed him fish (don't want to give him taste of it.) I also never let him get too hungry as he might decide to have an early lunch. It's a risk but i say go for it.

So you see the snowflake as a potential risk for the filefish. I was actually wondering that the filefish (abt 4 inches) would be messing with the snowflake.
thanks

I've had zero issues with my snowflake eel, other than being largely blind and nipping at things close to what it wants to eat.

No problem there, filefish are generally easy going except towards each other, couples exempt. And the snowflake wouldn't take him down.
