I got a new snowflake eel last weekend, been in QT for 5 days. It is about 10" or so, and very active and alert. However, has not eaten yet.

When I squirt some of the food water into the tank, it immediately comes out and moves around, sticks head out etc. I have been trying to feed LRS Chunky food, which seems to get great reviews for eels. Have tried pieces of shrimp, clams, etc. Have tried them on the end of a wooden skewer as well as with some tongs. Eel will move toward the food some, but seems to avoid it. I also tried it on a small piece of fishing line in the flow with no luck.

Should I leave a chunk in there for him to find on his own? Or just stick to the course and keep trying? Any other ideas or suggestion?

Thanks!

When we had one that swam into our sump I fed it frozen lance shrimp with great success, the method I used was by hand however so I'm not sure if that had any impact

Difficult to feed individualz sometimes benefits from a live feeding. Put a few live ghost shrimp in for a couple of feedings, once he settles in he will be more aggreeable to taking your chunky dead offerings. Snowflakes usually come around pretty easily.

Squid did the trick.. grabbed a small tentacle piece right away... hopefully can get to eat shrimp etc as well soon...
