Snowflake eel HELP!

So I have a mew snowflake eel that I put in my tank 4 days ago.. he has been active but I haven’t seen it in 2 days.. I have a 225 gallon tank with tons of LR and I know he can explore tons without even poking his head out but should I be worried.. I just tried to feed him with a fresh piece of haddock but he didn’t come out. I’m worried he is dead and in turn I will receive a spike in my tank.. any thoughts??

Sometimes they don’t come out during feeding. As long as you feed them twice a week they will be fine.

Is haddock a good feed? Should a use something else.. it’s my first time caring for an eel

Don't sweat it. Make sure he hasn't gone carpet surfing. Any opening large enough to slip his head through is potential for carpet surfing.

My snowflake prefers Krill over all others, but shrimp, squid tentacles and small silversides work too.

Raw or cooked shrimp.. I’m assuming raw since they do not have any means of cooking the shrimp in the ocean lol

You want all their foods to be raw never cooked. Sometimes they will eat certain foods over others. The snowflake eels I had in the past loved krill but never came out for anything else.

After 4 days I found him poking his head out in my sump.. scooped everything out and got him out luckily without him being sucked into the pump while he was freaking out. He is now on a diet of mini scallops.. he seems to love them. You can tell they have a great sense of smel because seconds after the scallop hits the water he is out looking for it
