Just wondering if there are any hints on enticing a snowflake eel into eating- he is 15-16 inches long. We have our tank professionally maintenance. We picked up the eel three weeks ago- he was eating- and he has not eaten at all since. He is very active and looks healthy, but it worries me. I know that eels can do this but it is worrying me. Tank specs are excellent. He was eating silversides but wont even show interest. We have a Ca. ray and a lionfish as well in the tank. 150 gallon. Worried :(
I joined because I read some great threads from this site and it seems to be one of the only great sites available for people who love their fish.

Welcome!!! Have you tried putting the food, a decent chunk of shrimp or similar, on the end of a skewer and literally putting it right in the eels face? They tend to have bad sight and are opportunistic feeders. I have done this in the past with success.

What was he eating at the store? Replicating what they we were doing usually helps.

Snowflakes generally aren't that picky and will usually eat whatever is offered.

Krill has always been readily taken by any snowflakes I have dealt with.

Squid! For some reason eels love it. Don't freak out when hunger strikes happen, there is nothing you can do. My chainlink lets me know when he's ready and many will show signs, just gotta pay attention.
