ive read both yes and no i just want to see what people say here

My close friend has had one in his reef just have to watch what other fish are in there i think.

I had one in my reef. He was well behaved. He never tried to climb out of the tank. He never ate anything but the snails and hermits on occassion. Cleaner shrimp even tried to clean him. He ended up choking on a snail shell though. Sad..... He never disturbed the corals either. He would weave right between my sps colonies and didn't cause any damage. It was amazing. I did more damage when I tried to clean the tank.

I think the key was I got him when he was tiny so he learned that food came from feeding tongs.

they are not coral eaters only invert eaters .. you can have one .. if he can fit it in his mouth he will eat it inc. fish .. if you can get a small one you can have it in your reef

If you are looking to put an eel in a reef I would look at the golden dwarf moray eel because they only get 12" long and would not have nearly as much of a bio-load. And since they are smaller it gives you more options fish wise! I've heard they can be kept in a 20 gallon !

I say no, not reef safe! I had one and it took a liking to clams... It ate over $500 worth of clams before I could catch it. I had to spend the whole day ripping my tank apart to finally catch the eel..
