Snowflake Eel Setup

Looking to setup a 60 cube as a dedicated snow flake eel tank. I know they need rock work but I am at a loss of how to setup the rock work? Do i stack the rocks close? Do I open the rocks up a bit so water can flow in between the rocks to remove detritus. I threw some rocks into the tank to start cycling but not sure what to do. Do I need to make PVC homes between the rocks?

IMO they would benefit greatly from sand, then they can make the rocks far more useful

Agreed, I would definitely recommend sand for an eel tank. My snowflake loves to make burrows in the sand up under the rock work. Just make sure the rock structures are sitting directly on the glass bottom and then add the sand, so that the eel can't drop rock down on itself when it starts burrowing underneath. You also want your rock work to be secure. The eel will slither around through the rock and they'll easily knock over pieces that aren't secure, which could injure them or crack your tank if it fell against your glass. I recommend using epoxy to hold your scape together and make sure the final scape is stable and won't easily tip over.
