Please help!!! We bought a snowflake eel almost two be weeks ago from our LPS and we can't get him to eat. What can we do

A friend of mine had trouble too. Have you gotten him squid from the grocery store?

How big is your snowflake and what are you trying to feed him? Eels can go a long time without eating, especially after being moved to a new tank, so don't panic.

In a pinch you can get live shrimp, grass or ghost feeder shrimp if available.

You could also use tongs and mimic movement from a larger frozen shrimp or krill.

Also, dropping a clam on the half shell often gets a response.

Squid is my go to food for feeding my GDM. I've found it to be irresistible. If your snowflake is still young(1' or less), some pieces about the size I have cut up here will work. If it is grown(close to 2' long), then you can probably feed the whole tentacles. I put the food in front of the power head and let the eel smell it. They will come to the smell and "hunt" the squid. The power head serves two purposes, to spread the scent of fresh food, and to induce movement in the dead squid.

Good advice given above. Only thing I would add is to try octopus in addition to the squid and make sure the eel has enough LR to be able to hide completely.

1. New eels especially small will need sometime to eat in new tank.
2. Eels generally don't eat if the water parameter are off the chart so be sure test your water.
3. Over feeding will cause the eels goes hunger strikes for weeks or months but this is not your eels case.

I have a few snowflake eels. I found that they did not eat for the first week or two after I put them in their current tanks. My personal go-to food is shrimp- they eat once a week! Don't worry, he will be fine. they just take time to adjust.
