We are thinking about adding a snowflake eel to our 210 gallon tank. What are the odds of our diamond goby becoming a snack?

Small fish living in same area is always a risk. Snowflakes a pebbled tooth eels inverts are at the highest risk of becoming dinner. The smaller fish have become dinner for snowflakes.

@fishguy242 had a snowflake take out a few clowns.

As they grow bigger , the potential of larger small fish becoming dinner .
I had a 12” snowflake eat small juv blue tangs .

they are great escape artists , be sure you have a lid .
But if added when they’re small , and fed well , other tank mates could be alright .

The lid on the tank is tight fitting! I knew that was an absolute must. If we get one, it’ll be a small one that we add. Most of our other fish are on the larger size so I’m not overly worried about them.

We’ll still probably take the risk. Hope the eel is a model citizen because our diamond goby is a power house and keeps our sand bed pristine! I’ll be sad if he becomes a snack lol

Being nice swallow size ( long and thin ) he might disappear without a thanks for dinner .

they grow fast !
the more it’s fed , the fatter and longer it gets
A
6” eel can easily be 12” long in less than 1 year

Don't get one super large and start out in an observation tank to get on a captive feeding routine., and it will be very slim. Properly acclimated snowflakes do not go out of their way to eat fish, and the diamond goby is a good enough size not to be threatened.

I have a ‘well stocked and rocked’ 500g softie reef with a snowflake eel, for over a year… I usually get a glimpse of the eel ‘snaking’ thru the rocks every few months. I don’t think that my grandkids have ever seen it!
