I say you give Melafix a spin, and then report back and tell us how it went. :D

I have ZERO experience using Melafix for open wounds/damaged fins. I've used it a few times to treat minor infections and each time I will say the fish did recover. Whether it was just the fish's natural immune system that took care of the problem or Melafix played a role I cannot say.

Will do, I mean the more knowledge and experience we have in the hobby the better! No?

Dude, try it. We are just concerned about the welfare of the animal. I've used Melafix in koi ponds and such, just never on an eel with sloughing skin. But to be honest, if he's not eating, it's more complicated than it seems. I mean it when I say I wish you luck. You seem sincere and I have empathy for your situation.

Nothing wrong with experimentation. I try new treatments on fish all the time in the hopes of finding a better way for the greater good. Just understand sometimes I lose a fish trying Product B, when I know in the back of my mind I probably would have saved him if I had just used (tried & true) Product A. It's a risk you have to be willing to take.

Me too the thing is I was told my multiple reefing friends that they've used it on eels tangs ect. And it worked, my turns had the same thing happen to him with his zebra eel it jumped out and got cut, he used it and it healed

Then what are you waiting for? Follow the dosing instructions and make sure you've got a water change at the ready. [emoji6]

Be sure to let us know how it works with yours! I wanna know how he does for sure. Wishing you lots of luck with him :)

Ok so update, 7 hours after medicating the DT with melafix for my eel, the eel has perked up a bit acting more like itself, attacking the feeding tongs when they bother her as apposed to being so out of it that I cld just pick her up without her responding, she's holding her head up as apposed to her head drooping[emoji846] still breathing heavy but it's looking less mechanical more eel so hopefully she makes a full recovery

I'm a bit worried abt her not eating but before she stopped she ate a hell lotta food, I'm talking like 4-5 good sized silversides a day, remember that she's only like 13 inches

Also, I got her some PVC pipes today that I incorporated into the rocks scape and she's looking more comfortable in her new hide
