Hey all, been a while since I posted. My snowflake eel has gotten a few inches longer, moved him from his grow out to my 40g because I thought he needed space. Currently in the tank I have 3 chromis - I honestly don’t know what kind they are [emoji23] they have a brown/purple body with an orange/yellow tail. I believe they were something like striped chromis? Anyways, do you think they’ll be fine together? The eel already ate my cleaner shrimp (thought they wouldn’t eat them because they help clean fish, that’s what I saw on youtube and on here) but has been going after the ghost shrimp I put it in there. Today is the second night of being in there. Thanks!

Sounds like you’ve got blackmouth chromis (Neoglyphidodon nigroris); nice, haven’t seen them in a while. They’re pretty aggressive and they can take care of themselves just fine, so I’d bet they’d be okay with the eel. Lotsa people have eels with schooling fish like green chromis, anyways.

Hahaha, that’s what they are! I forgot the name. Yeah they beat each other up, 2 of the three are getting bullied from the bigger of the trio. Thanks for the quick answer, and I’d assume adding more of them will ease the aggression?

Sorry, wasn’t thinkin for a sec. To this question, yes, generally bigger groups will ease individual tension provided you have a big enough system for them. But to your previous question, I would be a bit wary, but you should probably be fine if they are near maturity and are sized pretty well.

I think I’ll get 2 more in my QT tank tomorrow! Appreciate it

Usually snowflakes are ok with fish, but may hunt new additions at night.

If the species of chromis you have is correctly identified, then it behaves as a fairly aggressive damsel. I wouldn't recommend adding more.

What’re your ideas on easing the aggression? I thought of the situation similarly to in freshwater, specifically with platys, how having more females to males eases the pressure on individuals. Is that not the case?

That is not the case with these guys. They are territorial. Adding more will only inrease their aggression. It is their nature. That will not change in a 40g.

Thanks for the info, they seem to be getting better as they settle in. Hoping the two smaller ones put on some size

So my snow flake would pretty much sty in i's spot looking around& came out when feeding the tank. If he's out all the time hunting often then maybe he's not full?

Every time I walk in the room he comes out to try and get food. I don’t think he’s ever full! But yes, he hides most of the day, forgot to add that too. Occasionally he’ll wrap around my hydor powerhead haha
