I have a cleaner shrimp and would love to get a snowflake moray someday. Has anyone had success with snowflakes and cleaner shrimp? Also I want to possibly get a copperband butterfly someday. Would I be able to have both?

You should be able to get a copper band butterfly if you want to get a snowflake. I’m not sure if a snowflake will eat a cleaner shrimp. Maybe if the eel is really small and the shrimp big.

Ok cool,

it would be in a 75 gallon but I have a 180 to upgrade to if I need to. Could I do the eel first then the butterfly? And yeah that was my plan, get the smallest eel I can and my shrimp is big so then I would feed it by hand to try to train it to only eat what I feed it and feed it often so it doesn’t get hungry

Snowflake eel grows pretty fast when fed well. I had 4 cleaner shrimps and 4 Fire shrimps, now I only have 2 Fire shrimps. Woke up one morning to all my cleaner shrimp disappeared.lol. U have to be ready to replenish your shrimps every once in a while. FYI my shrimps did last 6 months before the disappearance. I however have never had any incident with my fishes. I feed Erica (the Eel) every 3 days to put me in twice a week. Very important note though, I had slacked off and forgot to feed Erica for more than a week, and yes they can go that far without food, when the incident happened. Which makes me believe that if u feed them regularly, they wouldn't harm others.

Ok awesome this is exactly what I was looking for, I only have one shrimp and don’t really want to me keep buying them if it keeps getting eaten. I would either let It be and see how it goes and put a new one in my biocube anemone tank or frag tank if it got eaten or put it straight in. Would a cleaner shrimp be fine with anemones? I would think so since they constantly steal from them so they must not get stung too bad. I also have a clown goby, would that likely get eaten? What was the smallest fish you had? And what do you feed the eel?

I have no experience with anemone but I'm sure your shrimp should be fine with it. My smallest fish is 3 fire gobies. The eel has never bugged them. For feeding, I got some silver side fish, some krill, and some really big shrimps from the farmers market. Erica didn't like the krill so I cooked that for myself [emoji16]. She however loved silver sides and the shrimps. I froze them, and chopped a few (small enough to fit in her mouth) in her small little bowl. I feed her approximately 1 shrimp every 3days. I feed her till she's full and she'll let u know when she is. Also something to keep in mind before getting a snowflake eel. They are nocturnal and only come out at night to hunt or try to escape. So make sure you have a tight fit lid. They sit in their cave all day so except when u try to feed them you might mor see them so often, but again every animal has their different personality. Also I saw u said you'll hand feed yours. Be careful with that as they have a very poor sight and can bite you trying to get the food and not cos they attacking you, so get a feeding stick and use that instead, make sure she eats off the feeding stick not off floating food (basically do not just thrw the food in the tank and have her go for it) so she depends on the stick to eat and not on her hunting.
