Hello,
I am setting up my 3rd saltwater tank and am excited to get my first eel in a few weeks. I cannot decide between the ghost eel or the snowflake eel. I am looking for the most docile one out of the two. What do you recommend?

@tyler1503 should be able to give you some solid advice, he's really knowledgeable about eels

I have a snowflake also. Mixed reef fish from 1"-4" and it hasn't bothered anything.

Ok thanks. Sounds like snowflake is the best choice then. I saw a clip on you tube of both eels being fed and the ghost eels took the food gently, while the snowflake sort of attacked it. That just made it seem more aggressive I guess. But you guys have experience and I will go with what you say. Thanks again!

I'd say go with what you like honestly I mean this hobby is all about enjoying it so build a tank you love :)

What size tank; snowflakes would be happy in a tank as small as a 55, they'll find a cave or 2 and hang out, cruising mostly when it's hungry, but not that much. A ghost needs more swimming room, will be out more and I would recommend a tank of about 125g. Ghost eels can sometimes also be tricky to feed, it usually wouldn't be the best choice for your 1st eel unless you are very experienced.

Have you kept eels before? Or any predators in general?
I'd definitely recommend the snowflake if you haven't. They're the easiest eel I've ever kept. Easy to feed, they don't grow huge so they're not an massive strain on filtration (although still a greater strain on filtration than most non-predators fish) plus they're beautiful animals!
Can we get some information on your tank? How big is it, what filtration you're looking at etc.

Thanks Lion King! I have a 75 gallon so this definately makes the snowflake the choice. I appreciate your feedback sir.
