My system is a few years old. My parameters have always been very stable at 5 nitrate .03-.08 phosphate. The other day I notice some algae on the sand, also some bubbles on the rocks. Next day heavy algae on the glass. I test phosphate and they are at .197. I change out rowa, test the next day down to .123. Next day I test phosphate 2.8 next day. So I go buy a new Hanna checker because I feel like my numbers must be off. Test at .05 perfect. Come home today, algae all over the glass, test .24......... 2 Hanna Test kits, one brand new. How could it jump so much?
now I have what I think are dynos, see attached picture. What should I do?
current parameters
120 gallon tank, 95 actual water volume
Salinity 1.026
Nitrate 2 (nyos)
Phosphate .24 (hanna)
Magnesium 1330
Alk 8.2
Calcium 430
the only thing that has changed in my tank I have been fighting with PH since Covid. My father in law has been staying at my house to watch the kids and my average ph of 8.2 (8.1 low, 8.4 high) has dropped down to an average of 7.86 (maybe 8.0 high 7.7 low)
if it’s cyano I can treat it tonight, if it’s dynos I need help.
