So can anyone tell me what this is?

this started growing in my tank about 5 weeks ago and it has now spread to one of my corals as well as my live rock. Does anyone know what this could be and if I should keep it or how to get rid of it?

I think it is a sponge as I have a load of it in my reef mostly in the dark for decades.

It looks like a sponge. I have some growing in the dark spots of my tank. Seems like they grow faster in tanks that are carbon dosing. They are also harmless I believe.

Yep looks like spaghetti sponge. They r harmless if you want them out of your tank I would recommend cutting as much of it out as you can with a razor blade them throwing some super glue on top of the sponge or I'd also have a lighter to the sponge and burn it that should kill it. But those r my ghetto and cheap ways of removing it I'm sure there is a lot of different ways of getting rid of it. But personally if it's not affecting any of my coral then I'd leave it alone. They are filter feeders so they will help clean your water and they will help hold ur rock work together

You could also pull out the rock that it is on and let it dry out for a while if it is bothering you. Remember it will need to be cured before it is put back in.
