So I thought I’d brag a little about my success so far...hopefully that doesn’t jinx me. My first reef tank, which is a Biocube 32. It’s just shy of 4 months old. Corals are growing really well with what I think is significant growth. Good coralline growth. I think i have my alkalinity and calcium usage figured out and going to add a dosing pump. Here’s my current set up and livestock.

2 frogspawn
2 hammers
1 Acan
1 Toadstool
1 Duncan
2 different Palys
6 different zoas
1 finger leather
1 Ricordia
1 Pavona
3 Monti Caps
5 flower anemones
1 fire shrimp
1 peppermint shrimp
3 mexican turbo snails
3 astrea snails
Handful of hermit crabs

I’m currently fallow as I got ich and lost 5 of 6 fish.
I’m seeing good growth on everything and parameters are stable
Ph 8.2
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 5-10
Phosphates .03-.05
Alkalinity 8.2
Calcium 410-430

Any thoughts or suggestions on what else i could or should be doing would be appreciated. Here’s some pics

You know what's most impressive about this?..you want to brag about success after losing 5 of 6 fish the first 4 months. Way to keep up the great attitude! I agree...sticking with it in the first place when a lot of folks would've thrown in the towel, plus really good numbers and surviving coral is a great start.

Not to jinx you further...but I didn't see any diatoms or algae until 4 month....you're not out of the woods until about month 6-10. But no doubt you'd whether that fine if it came up. But yeah man...keep it up.

Thanks!! Lesson learned to quarantine new fish. But yeah I love this hobby. I may be moving within the next two years and when I move I may upgrade to a larger tank and move everything into it.

On the algae, I did go through a diatom phase and some kind of red algae phase. Managed to eradicate all of it. Also had some Aiptasia which I seemed to have eradicated. Hopefully I don’t have any more algae to deal with but I am learning that little issue always pop up and I’m learning how to address them!
