Hello,

I have about 10 years saltwater experience. Reefs, FOWLR, and had an octopus :). I had an awesome stars and stripes puffer about the size of a med football. He loved to be touched and would spit water at you until you fed him. He lived with an 8 inch clown trigger and an almost 2 ft snow flake eel both which were hand fed. I had them while I was a broke college student. I would feed my fish fresh fresh shrimp, squid, salmon ect and I was eating mac n cheese and Tonys Party pizzas. People would laugh and say how my fish eat better than I do. Unfortunately I had to move out of state and I didn't want to risk the trip with them, so they all found great new homes. Still waiting on my first 5 year reef tank though.

I've been out of the hobby for about 7 years now, and wow has technology come a long way. Really excited about all of these new toys lol. Currently running a oceanic biocube but moving it to a jbj rimless 30 next week. It has a cleaner look and a little more functionality. Lighting with an AI prime HD, running an aquamax skimmer, and also adding a fuge with some maco in one of the chambers of the jbj. My future plan is to either go to a 90-120 reef, or 180-220 fowler, setup a frag system and keep the jbj going. Im leaning towards the latter. I love my reef tanks but I cant keep my hands out of them lol. I love to frag and trade corals, so its very hard from me to keep a nice show tank and just let things grow. Im thinking the frag system will keep me busy.

I feel rejuvenated with this hobby and Im super excited to share this time with my 7 year old son. He has become super interested in fish over the last year and Im thrilled I can share my knowledge with him and we learn new things together. My wife jokes and asks "how excited are you that your son loves baseball and fish?" I tell you what, Im truly blessed :)

Man I love this hobby!!!!

That’s a cool story. Thanks for sharing. I’ve got a 6 year old and he’s been following along with my builds. He even killed a whole tank by tinkering with my heater! But he loves learning all about saltwater inhabitants. Let’s see some pics later on. Glad to have you on board on the best forum out there.
