I have a SCA 90 36x36 and it has a center overflow. been thinking about covering it with some coral.

just got sure what. was thinking rainbow cloves or blue star but I am afraid of it spreading to my scape.

looking for a semi fast growing coral the will add color, texture, maybe movement too.

encrusting monti's has cross my mind anyone done this? any idea on how fast they grow?
same with zoa and rics

open to options...
cheers

Stay away from cloves and blue stars. Once in your tank they will spread like wildfire everywhere. I've seen where people have brought them in to their tanks and regretted it, so bad that they tore down the tanks and nuked their rock to get rid of them.

A more manageable cover would be green star polyps. They to will grown on anything, but you have a better chance of controlling them than cloves.

yeah I thought that would be the case. love the look of the rainbow cloves from ASD tho...bummer

my other thought was get some shelf from BRS and glue that to the overflow giving me more places for coral.

let see how you decorated or hid your overflow.

Mines just encrusted with coralline.

A good friend has his boxes covered in GSP. Looks good.

Yes zoa will do it. I have some pink palys on mine. A few Xenia too. They both scrape of easy.
Personally any of the supposed nuscance corals like giant clove polyps Xenia gsp etc would be cool because it just scrapes off.
The blu cloves are a currse though.

I have been thinking about Aqua SD rainbow cloves...

saltyfilm can you post a pic of yours PLZ :D
of what, my cloves or my overflow. my cloves are on the sand.
my oveflowy has xenia, zoa, paly and a pink dendro.(and alge;))
