So I am working on upgrading to a 75 gallon

I am new to upgrades, for those who have had a 75 gallon what is the equipment you suggest to go along, we dont really have any ideas for dimentions, stands, sumps, pumps, etc etc it would be great to know where to first start thanks!

A standard 75 is 48 long 18 deep 21 tall.

Things I would do different if starting over. I have a 75 marineland tank.

1. get a stand that you can remove the sump from either the side or the front.
2. Larger sump 25-35 vs 20. I found I absolutely hated changing filter socks, so for me I'd look for something I could put a rollermat in.
3. Slightly taller stand. I'd want about 36 inches inside.
4. If you want a hood, look for a taller one 12-20 inches.

For equipment, nessicary
1. return pump rated around 1000 gph, preferably adjustable dc pump.
2. Lighting, I'd start with a t5 hybrid fixture that you can add leds to later.
3. Heater, depends on ambient room temp. But around 150-300 watts.

Nice too have, but not needed.
1. Protein Skimmer
2. Dosing pump for 2part
3. Containers for 2part
4. Rollermat
5. Aquarium controller

So OP, best thing for you to do would be to search for 75g build threads in member tanks to get an idea of the possibilities.

I would build the stand and use a 55g tank for a sump.

There are a lot of options out there, I would say a skimmer is necessary but just for nutrient control but also for aerating the water

Highly Recommend buying/building water station. I bought a used one that automaticity fills rodi tank, automaticity tops off the tank (ATO), and automaticity changes the saltwater.

Simplifies your life and greatly increases success.
