Yep , didn’t listen . Didn’t quarantine fish 1st . Lost 5 fish . So sad . The rest are in a quarantine tank being treated. So this is Where I’m looking for help. Quarantine tank . Protein skimmer, heater,power head, and salt water of course . I’m treating them for ich . How does this work ? Water changes every week ? How long ? I’ve heard anywhere from 28 days to 72. Quarantine tank is new to me. So let me have it !

You don't need a skimmer, just an HOB filter with some floss, a heater and some PVC pipe fittings. You will want to establish a bacteria colony, I used a small bottle of Fritz turbo start. Then get some copper treatment and follow the directions. You will want a hanna checker for copper as well. Buy more reagent when you buy the kit. Test the copper morning and night. As for the fallow period, it needs to be 76 days. I just finished mine a week ago and it was a huge pain in the butt. In the end, the fish are all healthy and my display tank is thriving again. I won't put more fish in there without a proper QT.
I used some of my bioballs from dt. Where I has a a lot. Go to canister filter going with chemi-pure,bioballs and sponge. They have me treating the fish with DrG’s caviar stuff. So I’m going to stick to that for right now. And ya , I’m with you , total pain in butt. But I’m done losing fish. Too much money . I blame partly the fish store as I saw a white fungus on one of the cleaner gobi I bought. They said just fungus , it will go away . And then this. Thanks for advice, really appreciate.

I got it from a fish that came from a local fish store. I was told it had been there weeks and showed no signs of anything being wrong. Within 2 days of going into my DT it started getting spots. I had 8 other fish in there that never showed any signs of anything.
I do the TTM method on all new fish along with a Prazi Pro dose at 7 and 13 days. While this is a pain, I dont worry about ammonia. If they have internal parasites then metroplex can be added. 36 hours transfers are not fun, but well worth it.
Now to your problem. What you need to do is first rid the fish of ich. And the QT tank and any equipment being used.
You need to let your old tank be fallow for 76 days, so you will need to establish a bacterial filter or do big water changes every few days on the QT tank. Be sure to have hiding places for the fish since they will be in close quarters and aggression will be an issue. Heater and an air stone or 2 for circulation.

Thanks , is powerhead alright for circulation ? I have a small one going in there now. Also have protein skimmer on , but your saying water changes. I’m down to 5 fish in 55 gallon. Only one medium fish left . Rest are small. Also have plenty of pvc in tank .and canister filter going with media and chemicals-pure in it. what is TTM method ?
