So I have this rock. It's a pretty nice rock as rocks go, and it's front and center of my aquarium. I also have this Yellow Watchman Goby and Randal's Pistol Shrimp in the QT and I was thinking "Wouldn't it be nice if I could get the YWG and shrimp to live in this great little rock"?
So here's what I did: I bought a few sheets of 1/8" acrylic from Home Depot, cut it to size, made a jig to drill some holes, glued it up and created a square tube the same height as the water, plus a half inch to bury in the sand. I carefully fit it around the rock, added in the Goby and shrimp, and voilà: I have united rock with fish and shrimp.
I'll leave it in place for a week or two so the pistol shrimp can settle in and build a home. Hopefully they'll stay put.
