But I was unable to find the meet and greet from Rev. hmmm. You know some of us would like to know about the Mods and admin as well.

:D

Hopeful we can learn about the start of R2R as well as the big guy (rev not his/our boss :D )

HAHA!! Ok here you go!

I purchased the site in May of 07 when the site had approximately 750 members. At the time the site was right at it's one year birthday. I was the second or third member of the site here. Several of the mods that mod here now were also around from the beginning. The starter of the site Coralnutz started the site really as a place for people from other forums to trade zoanthids freely without rules. This site was a fresh of breath air. Coralnutz for his own reasons decided to sell it and I took it over. Since then we have added roughly over 2500 new members in just about a year and a half. We have a great staff and membership here, what can i say. ;)

R2R is about 2 1/2 years old and is well on it's way to being a power house in the coming years. We will never change our approach to how we operate this site and I think its a big reason why it has grown like it has.

Now about me!

I am 32 years old, I have a wife and a 9yr old daughter. I am Pastor at a local church as well as a private High School basketball coach and athletic director. I work closely with young people as I am just a BIG KID at heart anyway. :D I have a 120g mixed reef, soon to be 300g, and I love the ocean and the reefs! I Love Jesus and I am not afraid or ashamed to say that he changed my life forever! I am also not ashamed to say that i care for you all here at R2R and I pray for you as well as value your friendships beyond any monetary amount.

That's all I can think of for now, but if you have questions I will try and answer them.

PS. We need some backgrounds from all of our team here at R2R so if you want to post it up MODS! :D

I guess i will start it off for the mods. :)

Name is Steven and i am 19 years old. Currently a first year student at Penn State- Lehigh Valley Branch. I am declared as a Marine Bio Major. I will eventually go on to Kutztown U, since they have an excellent Marine Bio program. I am working while in school at a flatbread shop called "Cosi" and yes i bake and make the bread there. :D

I was here when the site was called Club-zoa back in the day (June 2006). I was one of the new registered members. Fairly new to the hobby then, i only had a 10g nano with a bunch of LR. I was working at an LFS down in Florida at the time and thats where my passion developed. Even though i had kept marine tanks, only FOWLR, for the past 2 years corals were new to me. Now Rics, zoa's, and monti's are the fav's in my book. Eventually i had 4 tanks running at one time but then i moved up here, Allentown, Pa. If my memory is correct, right before the site turned over to R2R i was asked to become a moderator by my buddy Dave. I am on R2R several times every single day and all i can say is that it is this site that fuels my passion for keeping my reef, and eventually researching or aquaculturing corals in the future. :)

Hey Rev!!

How do we find out our member #?

I was aboard when it was club-zoa as well and Marv invited me to join way back when...

I was just curious to know what my member # is?

Thanks
Nnick

Looks like you were 332 or very close. You can look at the members list and then count according to the join date.

My name is Jesse. I'm 30 years old. I'm currently an apprentice in the Steamfitters local union 420. Its a 5 year program and I'm in the 4th year. I proudly served 5 years in the United States Marine Corps from 1998 - 2002, 2003 - 2004. I was a reconnaissance marine with 2nd recon battalion and did 2 tours in Afghanistan.

I joined Club-Zoa back in July of 2006. At the time I had a 58gal reef dedicated to zoas and palys. Here's the old tank thread...

Now I have a 120gal fowlr and a freshly setup 90gal SPS dominated reef.

Jesse were you stationed at C.L.? I was a FMSS corpsman there for quite sometime at about the same time you were there. I got to meet General Jones while at C.L. I was blown away at how down to earth he was for being the head of the Marines. I remember going out on humps and he would fall in ranks with us, camel pack and all.

Cool stuff Devil Dog :)

Thanks for the info guys! Im sure there are more of you hiding there :D

Alright here we go

My name is Paul, I am in fact a Jr, hence the name.

I am 25 years old, ive been married since 8-7-04 (again the name, easy way to remember my anniversary eh?) I have a 3 year old daughter, and 4 month old son. I am the new vice president of my families business, which is a chain of hallmark gift stores that specialize in religious jewelry and gifts. I am the fourth generation to run it, and it has been around since the the early 1930's.

I bought my daughter a goldfish bowl about 2 years ago, and decided that it was ***** boring, and decided then to do a saltwater fish tank.

I had a 30ish gallon bow front tank, with a hang off the back filter, seaclone skimmer...all the usual JUNK many of us had in the beginning.

Shortly there after a local store was doing a liquidation sale and was selling everything for 1-5 dollars. I waited outside until they opened and filled the biggest box i could find with God knows what.

Decided that this "coral" stuff as pretty cool, and then realized i needed to get with the program and get educated.

Since then, I have read every book i could find on corals, cover to cover, read tens of thousands of articles online, threads, and whatever else i could find on growing corals.

I also decided that the pics on RC were just to darn cool to not recreate myself. So i went out and bought a D40...a couple months later a D80...and several months later a D300. This hobby resparked my passion for photography. That too I havent let up on.

For nearly 2 years I have researched anything i could find with very few exceptions.

I have 2 grow out tanks where i decided to collect the finest corals i could find, and grow them out for later display. I felt that this was the logical step, as it has been much more affordable to run "function" tanks to get the corals large enough to look good in a large tank.

I recently ordered a 300 gallon display, and am currently designing the system, and will be building it step by step with all of you, with tons of pics along the way.

I feel that the endless amount of time and effort ive put into this hobby has made me a reliable source of information, and ingenuity. I look forward to helping others, and learning from you as well.

Only a few months ago did i join club-zoa, and like many of you, instantly felt like I was home.

After Rev and I battled to the death in an all out photo war, he asked me to come on as a photo advisor. Shortly there after, i became a moderator.

And that long winded story about wraps it up.
