See things like this in a few places. I’m cycling new tank. A couple mollies. I’m low ammonia and nitrate (essentially the cycle hasn’t started I’m told). Should I be concerned with these things ? Only thing in tank is sand live rock and mollies. Who are acting happy as hell. Will be sad to see them go.

It’s probably just dead coral and macroalgae. Be warned, you are going to get some crap for cycling with fish. There are many other methods that are not harmful on any animals and lots of people are very against that method.

The circled area looks like aptasia. Just pinch it off the rock and pull it out.

I’m well aware of that ‘now’. When this started and I was following LFS guidance I was not aware of what it does to the fish, as well as not fully understanding the “cycle”. And I chose to not take them out after becoming more educated. But that’s on me. Thank you for the heads up.
