So i was cleaning out a tank thats going to be resetup, everything is in order but it seems i left the vinigar in there to long and it apears i have some Unknown bio in the reguler water. I fully drained tank and found some white spots that look like water mold now im filling with RO water .....now my question is i want to start this tank 100% clean to the best of my ability. i thought about bleach or lysol or somthing but im on a bit of a time constraint here. this tank is standalone in my basement. Will running pure 100% ozone in the tank for 6-12 hrs kill any and all organic life in the water( i havent added salt) and will the ro water be ok to be used Highly purified. im trying to have a steral Start here and i have all the bio ready to get the ball rolling. Just checking to be shure the RO water will be safe if i let it araite for 4-6 hrs after the ozone treatmant and is this going to be effective at all or should i just water/ bleach drain and refill with RO again.

I'm not even sure what you're asking. Vinegar is not going to harm anything. As long as there is no residue from soap or detergent, you should be fine. If you decide to use bleach, use the cheap generic kind - not "splashless", no perfumes, etc. Ozone is unnecessary. Just give it a good rinse in tap water, dry it with a towel, and fill it up with saltwater.

that was the origonal plan but there is mold i pulled the powerheads out and they where covered and my filtersock i just trashed it. aparently what happened was there was a snail in the overflow. the main question is would a high dose of ozone to ro water to "Sterilize" it would that mess up the start of the cycle or make the RO unusable or am i just overthinking things lol i just dont wana make another 300 galons of RO water caus it will take another 2-3 days haha

Short ver draind the tank refilled with ro water , just went to get started and theres mold. if it was like a 30-40 galon i would have just redone it but im like 300 gal haha

Why are you starting over?

There is a reason for this question

oh just a new tank in my basement haha im more asking because i dont know the affects of a heavy dose of ozone then adding salt 6 hrs later then 150$ worth of bio and stuff. i never had done it this way so im asking could it pose an issue before i slam it overnight.

I have no idea about your ozone, but why are you so worried about a sternal tank?. I have fallen victim to this in a way myself. To many brs videos. Your tank is going to be exposed to every bio out there. Starting with a sternal tank only delays the inevitable and making it way too complicated. Next time, empty it, Rinse and repeat...... just my 2 cent's if it's ich or velvet I would just ask how long a tank needs to be without water before it is safe. Many out there would only start a new tank with real live rock and there is nothing close to sterile in those setups
