The night before last my wife and I had just laid down to go to sleep for the evening when I heard what sounded like a crackling soung coming from under my frag tank. As soon as rolled over I see a pretty little yellow and orange flame shooting from my power strip. I jumped out of bed, flipped the switch and blew as hard as I could and it went out. I checked and somehow I had gotten water inside the strip. It had ran down one of my cables from the tank. I say this because i made 1 really big rookie mistake. I did not have drip loops tied in my lines. If I hadn't been home, lets just say I don't know what might have happened. So, please look at your electrical plugs and be sure everything is set up in a way that this cannot happen to you.

or nail/hang the power stripe on wall or inside cabinet. Outlet holes facing down would be a plus.

Glad you were home and thanks for the reminder!

Wow sorry it happened but I'm glad it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

I had this happen to me when I was a teenager living with my parents. The drip was falling onto a cord and then running down straight into the socket. When I got home there was a 1 foot by 1 foot black burnt circle around it!

My parents were not happy.

I've been meaning to clean up my electrical mess next to my sump. this will give me the push to get it done ASAP. Glad nothing went terribly wrong for you and thanks for the reminder!

I appreciate it guys. My other 2 setups are setup with the strip on the wall and loops tied off. Pure laziness is why the other wasn't already done. Its done now and I will never make that mistake again.

No, because my house was built in 1906. I have ran new electrical line to most parts of the house but this is on a two wire plug. They will not work properly on those, matter of fact they don't work at all on them. I tried a breaker to go between the plug and strip but they do not work either.
