So much growth... too much growth? Deformity?

My trumpets lately have been growing and splitting so fast lately in the last month or 2. That it now has a huge "saggy sack" lol of tissue hanging off of it. This started out as 2 heads , and about 6 months later. It has turned into this. But major growth started 2 months ago. All I why know is why this head can't seem to split and it just keeps getting bigger and more saggy lol

It's good that they're growing but I have no clue about the saggy one. Very weird.

Not sure on this either but I have had several do this on my colony that I fragged. I did notice once they split the saggy went away

Mabey calcium is low? I'm not sure just a guess because it needs the Skelton to grow along with the polop to support the new growth right?

A pice of a skeleton inside of it broke off inside of it , and the gravity pulled it down from the main part but the coral is still growing around it, I have had the same thing happen to my Pectinia until i decided to cut it off and do a biopsy, to investigate .

It kind of makes it unique, It isn't anything bad , just a physical deformity . If you don't mind it looking like that.

Agreed I had one do the same thing from a piece of loose skeleton inside the head. I personally just lopped the broken part out once it pulled down far enough.

@Chefbill, I think your comment may have been missed.

Reproduction does not equal deformity folks. ;P

I've seen corals do this apparently as a form of self defence as well as escape, though in the latter case, the separation is usually completed vs hanging....and called "polyp bailout".

I also had green and orange M. capricornis that sorta "bubbled" like this when they'd grow "too fast"....it was different since they are plating. It'd happen in the middle of a plate, so nowhere to "sag"....instead it would blister up. It wouldn't last though.

Personally, my guess is that with yours it is self-defense against one of those LPS below it....
