I'm lucky to have a couple frags of these digis in this article! The last time I was there, I got a german blue digi and a pink digi, I didn't even know these existed! Joe has such a sweet tank, wait, Joe has two sweet reef tanks! A 240 mixed and the 120 SPS savvy that we see in this article. Great article, Joe! So Much to Dig about Montipora digitata!

Pretty basic article but I am a monti nut. I was hoping to see something new but that doesn't seem to happen with monti. I have noticed the "red" or "Peach" digi (not the forest fire) seems to be the most aggressive thus far with other corals. I had one fall and kill (well a branch of) a purple digi, and even a milli which I found quite surprising. The same piece is actually pushing back some encrusting purple haze monti as well right now. I even fragged a piece to see how it would fair against orange psammocora which is approaching and it seems to be holding it's own against that.

From what I have read dominance is as follows: Green > Orange > Purple

Any know just how many actual number of Digi varieties there are?

I'd say, not bad for a rookie blogger! But that's me; I applaud taking that extra step of the box out and being more social in this hobby. Do you have a blog? I am always looking for more blogs to read; I'd love to read some of your articles.

I agree, the digi bug is starting to hit me. It was one of my first corals (FF digi) and until going to Joe's place a couple weeks back, I didn't even know these other varieties/colors existed. I was sitting there looking at more high end sticks than I've seen in 3 frag swaps put together and I gravitated towards his digis.... haha! I'm on a mission to get all the colors!

I'm also looking forward to know what all colors are out there!

Thus far I believe the following exists:

Typical: Green, Purple, Orange, Pink (Usually called the Pink Smoothie Digi)

Others: German Blue, Forrest Fire, Superman Digi, ROAB Digi, Bi-color Morphs (Displaying two side by side digis growing as one.. not skin and polyps being different colors)

Minor differences type Digis: Like the ones seen on ORA's website... Peach Digi, Jeremy's Green, ORA Purple Digi (Purple skin, brown polyps)

Mystery: There is another possible Digi that I consider very special (Like the ROAB Digi), called the Bubblegum Digi. Thing is.. it may instead be another type of Montipora.. not a Digitata. For now, I will not get it until it's more confirmed about it being a Digi. After I obtain my other missing frags, I may get a frag of this, and attempt to identify it myself.

I have all but the minor difference type Digis. I will be attending Reefapalooza, and if I can't find those missing digis there, I may instead have my LFS order them.

zesty Nope I don't have a blog, I wouldn't know where to start. I wasn't downing the article, I was just hoping to see something new.

I have all the colors I've seen for digi except for green, only because I have too much green already. I have one I bought as red but it ended up being the same as the peach ORA digi after getting it's color back. Pink I may not have seen. One of my favorites although not a digi, is that branching one with purple/blue skin with green polyps. I forget the name of it buts its just sick under led's.

Triggreef - Look up Pink Smoothie digi., its a true pink, as opposed to just light orange, a nice coral indeed!

I think the coral you are referring to is the Bubblegum Digi that may be a Samatares (Guaranteed wrong spelling).

Hey, bud. I meant nothing negative, I just misread and thought something different. No worries

I was excited as I, just about a month ago, was visiting Joe and acquired a pink and blue digi. So seeing this article was kinda cool for me, since it was on and showed some of the colonies where my frags came from.

Now I'm all curious as to what else is out there in the digitata world!

Stellata is what I was referring to. Love it, definitely my favorite by far although it is not a digi. It doesn't seem to photo that well. Looks so much better in person....

I have a grey digi with silver polyps that I have kept even after getting rid of all my beginner stuff. It keepts getting branches broke off from my angels but hopefully takes off soon. IMO its the coolest digi and one i never see come in wild.
