Is it just BRS that have stopped selling the black and blue buckets of salt?

I did live chat with BRS and asked them when they would be getting the blue buckets back in and they said they believe they are discontinued due to shipping. So you're going to be stuck buying a box or a sack from the sounds of it.

Can anybody confirm that this is happening at all the shops or is it just BRS don't want to carry the bucket set anymore?

Hmmm...my LFS has tons.

Please hold- I am texting my LFS owner lol (we are friends).

Update: Negative, he hasn't had a problem getting it Wholesale and hasn't heard anything from his rep about it. He has pallets of it coming in.

What is the draw to the buckets? I’m curious why people buy the buckets honestly. They get damaged when shipped individually and you get more for the same price buying the 200 gal sack. I just ordered a sack from saltwater aquarium and came perfectly sealed. I can’t say I’ve ever received a bucket intact.

Serious question, how many buckets does one need?

In my eyes, shipping salt in sacks is an easy way the hobby can be slightly more environmentally friendly by reducing the amount of HDPE 5 gallon buckets that end up in the landfill.

Buckets are nice for stacking. :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:
I only have one bucket, but it's great for stacking more of my s**t on.

I get that, I have like 15 5-gallon buckets somehow. ;) But now I just dump my sack of salt into the old one and save some plastic.

To each their own, but I just wanted to toss the idea out there for those who perhaps hadn't considered the environmental impact of their purchase decision. For me, saving some plastic and getting some extra salt is win-win.

I just recently started buying the bags due to the fact that I have close to 20 blue buckets that I can't bring myself to throw away lol.

Yeah unless you need the buckets bags are the better choice. You get more for the same price and less likely to arrive damaged. Every bucket that distributors have to credit for being cracked eventually raises the price to consumers.
