A couple of hours ago I went to my LFS and bought a pigmy angelfish for my 30G mixed tank. It was so tiny and cute. Within 2 minutes of being in the tank he stuck his nose in the cave where my pistol shrimp lives. the shrimp latched on, pulled the angelfish in never to be seen again. I couldn't believe my eyes. I'm so upset for that little guy.

only upside is you saw it happen.
I've had a fish or two disappear with no idea what happened to them.

Sorry for the loss. That's crazy you saw it happen. How big was the fish compared to the shrimp?

It's a candy cane pistol and honestly I haven't seen him since I got him because he never comes out. I hear him snapping and see his antennae, but that's it. But I've only had him for 3-4 months and he was quite small at that time

we try so hard to keep our livestock healthy then outta nowhere.....!
power head mishap, fish aggression, carpet surfing, rock fall, etc. etc.

Not so much concern but doubts. I doubt that a candy cane pistol, one of the smallest and most timid of pistols, took out a fish. It would be a first for me. I suppose it's possible but I really doubt it.
