So we wanted to add more live sand because we only had about an inch. The “knowledgeable” gentleman at the LFS suggested it would be ok to do so if we dropped it down a pipe. Well you see the results. We have fish, anemones and corals and we are concerned we may lose them. Please help!!!

Do you have any filter floss available?

Forgive me, but what’s filter floss? The answer is unfortunately probably no.

I would turn your sump pump a little higher if you can control it. And I would run filter floss on one of the baffles going from one chamber to the other

It's a type of filter media that can filter fine particles. What kind of filter are you running send some picks

Filter sock, anything you have to remove those suspended particles will help. It’ll probably be fine in the end, but last time I did something like that I used a filter sock on my overflow and patience.

Exactly, filter socks work too. Same material as filter floss.

Running a canister filter. That’s how we bought the tank. I attached a picture of the filter and of some material I have if you could tell me if one of these will work? Thanks for the quick response.

I’m sure it’ll settle. I’ve added 20lb bags of sand without using a pipe with no probs to coral or fish.

The white piece is filter floss. That stuff cleans fine particles. I'm guessing there is some in the canister filter already?

Yes there is. Just really worried because it’s already been two hours and it seems a very minimal improvement.

The patience is the hardest part!!

By what I can tell from your previous post most of the corals you have are pretty hardy. I would turn the lights to ensure most of those polips stay closed up. And just give it time. It could take up too 12 hours to really clear up. Make sure the canister keeps going and tomorrow morning clean the canister and change out your filter floss out. My biggest worry would be the anenome so once it all clears up make sure you watch his condition. If he starts looking like he is melting go ahead and get him out of there to protect everyone else.

Also PM sent to OP

Ahhhh that’s not what I’d like to hear haha. The anemones are favored around here. I really hope everybody makes it.

I know it's hard but just sleep on it. I truly think everyone will be fine. Just send me pictures when things clear up. And again leave the lights off.

Yes I know I have to sleep on it. I will definitely post pics in the morning and thank you so much! I continue to be impressed as a new member!

If you have any powerheads / wave makers in the tank you can rubber band that extra filter floss, the white one, to the outside of it and it'll help clear it up faster.
