So What are your chores with your tanks when it comes to daily, monthly, yearly or whatever. What type of maintenance do you do?

Every day I change the filter socks, feed and add red sea trace elements. I have a rotating schedule of things that I do every few days: baste the sand, clean the glass, empty the skimmer and test for alk, calcium and phosphates. Every other week or two I do a water change, swap the carbon in the filter. Maybe every three weeks I soak and clean the skimmer pump, wave makers and return pump. It's always a half of work and watching the tank, some days it's an hour.

The only thing I monitor that is crucial is alkalinity and phosphates. If either of these deviate significantly I make adjustments to Dosing or feeding as necessary.

This is what I can remember off the top of my head...

Change filter socks twice per week
Test water parameters once per week
Auto water changes, 1% per day
Refill New Salt water tank every 6 weeks
Empty and clean skimmer very two weeks
Replace 1.5 cups carbon every other week
Replace 3 cups GFO every 4-8 weeks
Clean glass once per week
Blow debri off rocks every few days
clean powerheads every 6 months
Clean UV sleeve every 3 months
Replace UV every 12 months
Replace VHO actinics every 12 months
Replace MH bulbs every 12 months
Add 1cup of KALK every 2 months
refill Dosing containers for KN03, Calc, Alk, and mg as needed
Change RO pre filters very 6 months
Change RO element every 24 months
Change DI resins when color changes.
Clean eheim reactor and bubble king skimmer pump once per year
Clean Iwaki return pumps every 24 months.

Weekly testing of ca, alk, mg, salinity.
Daily testing of salinity on tanks with no ato.
Monthly testing of nitrate and phosphate.

Every morning I clean and remove my filter socks then give my tank a heavy feeding, then set the socks out to dry and add top off.
At night I give a light feeding, put my socks back in and add more top off.
Twice per. week (or if I overdose food) I do a 5 gallon water change. This is to keep my ammonia down that hovers around .50-1

Can tell you what I did not do for a long time, clean the filter on my chiller! Thought the cover just clipped on so I tried to remove it without success. Then did the Google search which told me it just clips on and off...so I tried harder but still to no avail. Back to Google where I ended up finding the manual which said, you guessed it, it just clips on and off! I thought maybe third time is a charm...it was not!

Eventually I got the screwdriver out and removed the screws towards the front of the chiller and lo and behold, it does just clip on and off...once you removed the screws!!! Anyway, the filter was filthy and after cleaning the poor chiller sounded so much better...and quieter! So that will be worked into the schedule from now on in...
