Becuase I have some news for you... I've been a shark fisherman for years and we use "menhaden milk" all the time as an attractant. Well Selcon is just menhaden milk with a different label on it lol. You can buy a QUART of it from Bass Pro Shops for the same price as that little tiny bottle of "Selcon". Genius of them to capitalize on the reefing market but I hate seeing people getting taken advantage of.
The first time I smelled this "amazing selcon" I knew EXACTLY what it was.

Thanks for the tip!

Sorry......... I'm no shark fisherman but I DO NOT buy the notion that this is the same as Selcon. Selcon has Huffa Omega3 fatty acids, vitamins, etc. This appears to be a jug of smelly attractant. Where is your proof that this is the same product?

I don't care if you believe it or not. Spend all you want! Omega 3 fatty acids lol.... otherwise known as bunker or menhaden.

Relax my friend, not trying to have a ticking contest with you. I looked at the product you listed......it is labeled and sold as an "attractant" it with no doubt has an odor to attract fish. Some companies even add glitter to it to visually attract fish. Glitter is not something I'd want in my reef tank. I'm sure both products may smell similar, as Selcon is derived from Salmon oils. All I'm saying is I do not believe it is the "exact same product with a different label" as you quoted. I tried to find the full ingredients of the product you posted to no avail. I'm all for saving money, but I'd like to see the ingredients to compare. I'd hate to buy a gallon of attractant and expect it to reverse HLLE in Tangs, or expect it to beef up my Anthias and Wrasses. So based on your findings, are you saying Selcon is absolutely nothing more than a $12 bottle of attractant with no vitamins or nutritional value? I ask because I put a product called "Smelly Jelly" which is garlic and glitter in an oil based paste on my hula grubs and lures to catch large mouth bass at the CA Delta, it has no nutritional value.

So did you happen to see the ingredients are the same or making that conclusion off the smell? I think it's entirely reasonable that they share a particularly pungent ingredient, but I wouldn't conclude they are the same thing just based off the smell.

This got me curious.

Menhaden (from wikipedia under the section Human intake) - "Menhaden are not used directly for food. They are processed into fish oil and fish meal that are used as food ingredients, animal feed, and dietary supplements. It has a high omega-3 fat content. Fish oil made from menhaden also is used as a raw material for products such as lipstick."

Selcon ingedients: Only Selcon Concentrate contains Omega-3 HUFA, Vitamin B12 and pure stabilized Vitamin C.

I imagine the types and proportions of omega-3 fatty acids between Chum Cloud and selcon may be different as well as the addition of vitamins to selcon. Also I don't think most people use selcon to attract fish, but rather to enrich foods for the fish's health. As such, Chum cloud may not care about which fatty acids are healthiest, only which attract fish better.

Chum Cloud.... I feel like we need to add that term to the R2R "dirty word" list. ;Hilarious
