So you want a Puffer in a reef?

Okay, I have to admit the Puffer has always been a fish that amazed me. That being said, I realize it is not ideal, but I need to at least try.
I would love to get a puffer in my Red Sea 450. I have Zoas but no SPS

I know they are not "reef safe" yet see tons in reef tanks that thrive. I wanted to see if some are less likely to ruin my reef then others?

I have a vague memory that our LFS said we could have a white spotted puffer in our reef but I could be dreaming ???

Puffers in the genus Canthigaster are a 'safer' puffer than their larger relatives. Though, they can still be a risk to nip, particularly fleshy LPS and clams.

I've been learning you can build a reef around your fish. I have a couple not so reef safe fish I'm not willing to part with. I just have to be even more picky with the corals I stock. I've learned what they pick at and what they leave alone and its been working out good.

I've had a lot of puffers in my reefs even triggers and large angels I've found that puffers will eat all clams,snails,shrimp, and crabs sometimes they would go after the feet of a starfish if it fell and it was upside down and its tents were waving, triggers usually the same but they would peck at my stingrays and cat sharks and the occasional nip on feather dusters, large Angels always went for sps and the underneath of my anemones and somethings likes to eat the slime off the hammer and frogspawn when they secrete that mucus they shed.
