Just wondering what the consensus is out there on when soaking your equipment? Do you use Citric Acid or Vinegar?

Fwiw,
I have suspected for some time that polyvinyl acetate based adhesives may be used on some pumps. If so, cleaning those pumps in a vinegar solution (acetic acid) may possibly contribute to hydrolysis of the adhesives. Especially at an elevated temperature. If that happens, it could cause a premature failure.

Citric acid is a safer acid to use for this purpose.
