Sochting Oxydator D

Perfect. It only bubbled up like a fresh new skimmer at first drop in but now pretty much no bubbles that I can see at all.
Sounds like it’s working correctly.

40 gallon breeder
I use the oxydator A on my 40b with approx 8% h2o2 and 2 catalysts. Its a fantastic little piece of equipment that isnt talked about much.

I used a "d" on a smaller tank but had it overdose H2o2 because the design in my opinion is flawed. I suggest you be careful. The 'nubs' on the ceramic base will wear and eventually not hold the container tight which in turn will release large amounts of h202. This was my experience with the "d"

Hmm sketchy. Seems to be doing okay at how long did you notice it was using more h202? I’ve started last night checked this morning and looks like it barley even flinched in use of the h202 in the cylinder

This is an approximation but it was between 4 and 6 months of use when the container would not hold properly in the ceramic base.

I typically would check it weekly and top it off. So once a week I was removing and replacing the container. The less you do that the less wear there will be.

It wasn’t that it was using more h2o2 but that it was directly releasing the h2o2 into the water because the container would not hold tight to the base, creating a gap. In my experience it does not deplete quickly. So if you notice a large amount gone in a week you may have a seating problem. I just suggest keeping an eye on it. Maybe just my unit was flawed and yours will be just fine long term.

I specifically noticed it the last time I top it off and went to replace the unit. The plastic container kept pulling away from the base as it entered the water because with out the ceramic disc the container floats. I was perplexed and thought I was doing something wrong but upon further inspection of the unit I found the “nubs” to be worn. This explained why many of my zoas in that tank would close up for no “apparent” reason in the weeks prior. Dosing straight 8% h2o2 tends to irritate them.

How would you say yours is working out for you? I know its probably too early to really start showing effects but wanted to ask. Im using 10% H2O2 and one catalyst for an 80 gallon right now, super clear water but hair algae seems unfazed

I personally think the effects of hydrogen peroxide dosing, whether using an oxydator or direct dosing, can be a lot more complicated than many suggest. Effects on speciation and bioavailability of trace elements, for example.

Perhaps a lot of anecdotal reports can make up for a lack of detailed understanding of the chemistry involved, but one should not assume it only adds O2, or that all effects are confined to the device (which is an obvious fallacy).

that is why im tending to stay on the low/safer end of it by dosing slightly lower h2o2 in the oxydator instead of straight dosing. The oxydator helps spread it out during the day but i really need a pH monitor, o2 tester, and an icp to help test its effect on trace elements.
A biodiversity test before and after 6+ month usage on like a 10 year tank may help show the interaction as well albeit as a case study

I had a D and returned it. It was difficult to seat the beaker properly and I had a couple of instances where too much was dosed and my corals closed up for days. I replaced it with an A which I ran for a months but have since removed it as I noticed no difference in the health of my aquarium to justify bringing in gallons of h2o2 in the mail.

Who carries these for sale in the USA? I've looked in the past and have never found a reliable source for them.

I bought mine here, sochting oxydator A, it came in like 3 days

Works great water is crystal clear I use 3% one catalyst. Sometimes dose like 2 ml at night into the tank everything looks much better

Awesome... ordered

oh also this, it should last a good while, depending on your tank size

How often is everyone refilling the h202?

I filled my oxydaotr A with 6% h2o2 and 1 catalyst (which came with it) about a week later I checked on it and the container was completely empty, my system is 65G total. Is anyone else experiencing something similar?

I am using an oxydator A, will check it tomorrow. 1 catalyst and about 8-10%. I changed it out about 2 days ago, on an 80 gallon tank so similar

I have the same oxydator and use 12% with 2 Catalysts for my 90:gallon. I get about 2 weeks before the container is empty.

I use the oxy A with approx. 8% h2o2 and two catalysts on approx 50g total water volume. It lasts me about 2wks.

Its my understanding that a few things can affect how much h202 is catalyzed. Such as temperature, organics and other traces possibly. I know when i first started using mine it burned up more h202 and now that it has been running longer in the system it uses less and seems to be a consistent amount.

Also be sure the unit is in good working order and youre getting the cap closed properly.

I just had a A-model delivered today . Just waiting on 12% H2O2 gallons to arrive

Hoping for good responses for corals

Not hoping for a H2O2 leak killing $5k worth of coral..If this happens I might jump off a bridge (which many of you would looooove)
Would you be able to point me in the right direction as to where I can find an A-model in stock to be shipped in the U.S.?
Tks
