In case you were interested, I posted a picture comparing the sizes of Soda Lime purchases from different vendors and their cost, because why not.

Left: 3Lbs, $9 (ShopMedVet) $3 per Lb
Middle: 36.4lbs, $87 (ShopMedVet) $2.39 per Lb
Right: 9Lbs, $50 (Bulk Reef Supply) $5.56 per Lb

That middle one is definitely the way to go. Way to put it quickly into perspective how buying in bulk saves money;Greedy;Greedy;Greedy

I haven't tried them yet. I bought the giant one when I was going through the soda lime in the cold weather every 5 days. I did the skimmer modification and haven't had to change it in 3 weeks. Once I do, I'll let you know if it lasts just as long.

What are the reviews on the soda
Lime from medvet? Are the pellets the same as BRS?

Not all soda lime is created equal.
Completely agree that soda lime are not all created equal. I use the Medvet soda lime and have found it lasts longer than the BRS soda lime.

Different grades, size of granules, some last longer than others and some have indicator beads to show when it is exhausted

Thanks.

I'm currently using the CDX absorption media, https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/cdx-carbon-dioxide-adsorption-media-two-little-fishies.html. I've been using it for less than a week and my pH went from 7.8 to 8.2+ and is stable.

I bought the CDX simply because I wanted to demo whether a scrubber would have an effect on my pH. It does. Now that I'm going to be using one permanently, how does the CDX media compare to the BRS and Medvet media?

Can't help you there as I am in the UK and not familiar with either, sorry.:(

I’ll chime in. I use the shopmedvet big container as well. I’ve gone through about half of it. I use a TLF 150 reactor for mine on my 86 gallon total water volume. 1600 sqft House 5 person family with 2 pets. We generate a lot of co2. Without the soda lime, and with my calcium reactor running, my mid day ph peak can sometimes be as low as 7.7 if we have guests over. With the soda lime it tops out now at around 8.25 on normal conditions. If no one is home all day it’ll get up to 8.35-8.4.

I also have noticed that it doesn’t stop working when it has all shifted from white to purple. Ph still stays just as elevated for weeks past the color shift. But for those curious I get from white to solid purple in about 10-14 days
