Hello to all reefer's I'm new to reef to reef. I need help I'm doing a water change and I did the mistake of adding the sodium carbonate to my new batch of saltwater instead of mixing it with just plain water and then add it to the tank. now water is all cloudy. My question. It's there any negative effects for the live stock in general coral's,fishes. I haven't add it to the tank yet, should I start a new batch of water.please help me.

-What was your purpose for adding sodium carbonate?
-How much did you add and how many gallons of water was it mixed with?
-How long did the water sit once mixed?
-Was there something in the water to keep it moving?

Thank you Jack it was to raise Alkalinity and I did the mistake adding it to my new batch of salwater that was ready to do a water change and the water became very cloudy at the end I end up doing a new batch of saltwater mix and did not use the first one,
I didn't want to risk my whole sistem since I didn't new if there where negative effects talk to the guys from bulk reef supply and they told me what happen was precipitation and I can use that water but first I need to test it for calcium,Dk,magnesium and Ph. I learn my lesson, once again thank you for trying to help me I really appreciate.

I actually had an alternative motive for my questions. The same thing happened to me last week and if my situation was similar I could use whatever answer you received. I tossed my water and made new water just like you but never knew why the water got cloudy but I am assuming it's because I left the water sitting overnight with no movement.

In your case probably that was the cause, it happen once to me but after few hours the water clear up but yesterday it was my mistake.
