Starting to plan my plumbing situation. Here are the specs.

125 gallon 6 ft tank (tank pre drilled dual overflow, drilled on the bottom)
trigger systems 39 sump
2 x Vectra s 1 return pumps

I am thinking about using soft tubing for my drain lines and pvc for the return lines.

1 check valve on each return line and 1 ball valve on each overflow line.

Does this set up sound ok? Any recommendations?

I would think you would want to do the reverse - with
flex pipe tubing or all flex pipe. Flex pipe will adsorb some of the vibration from the pumps.

A ball valve on the overflow line?;Facepalm You should never want to restrict the flow coming down into the sump. That could be bad bad news ( you would get a overflow tank instead.

A check valve won't hurt but make sure it can break the siphon also. Return check valves can and will fail.

You are welcome to look at my new setup...Still in progress 280 gallon https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/trickman2s-280-gallon-upgrade.369124/#post-4724052

thanks for the info. This is why I am hear asking first. Which lines would the check valves be beneficial on?

Check valves are good on the returns but just make sure that it can break the siphon also. If the check valve fails then the siphon will break anyways and won't flood your sump and the floor. You could also put the ball valves on the the return lines as they won't hurt anything. Are the vectra's going to be running from the sump or outside the sump?

Vectra's will be running inside the sump. I think I may skip the ball valves altogether. Which check valve do you suggest? I am looking on brs...

I used these https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/spears-true-union-check-valve.html . Best to put them in a visible location if possible. It has two unions of you can remove it to clean it if needed. Sadly mine had to go into my overflow boxes. No space elsewhere. Make sure the valve is upright and flow direction is correct. It is gravity based check valve.

Also probably wise to use some unions depending on your sump. Being able to disconnect things easily https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/schedule-80-union-slip-x-slip-1-4440d927e935e3273252c4be793c9152.html . Lastly, soft hose for the overflows could be bad if it where to kink up and restrict flow. Anything that can restrict water coming from the overflow boxes should be considered bad. You would want to use the reinforced hose. https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/braided-nylon-tubing-sold-by-the-foot.html

thanks! These unions are for soft hose?

Wow that stand looks low. Are you sure you will have room for a sump? Emerald 39 says Dimensions: 39″ long x 16″ wide x 15″ high
Don’t forget about putting a skimmer underneath and being able to remove the collection cup. What are the dimensions underneath?

Sump is getting delivered end of week but it’s the trigger systems emerald 39. Here is the tank.

the angle of picture must be deceptive. It is 30inch clearance height for the cabinet.

Not great but not horrible either. Just be mindful of space as it will get cramped underneath, with things such as skimmers, etc. Point being is you may have to turn a skimmer sideways to get it in or out. Basically you would only have 14-15 inches to slip it in and that doesn't account for angling into the sump. Another reason to use union to connect and be disconnect things easily. Do you have to put the sump in from the back? I am guessing yes but you might get away with just removing one door and angling it in. Things to think about is all.
